Fill in the Blank Friday, sleep.

1. The last thing I do before going to sleep is: kiss tony goodnight, even though he's already asleep.
2. When I can't sleep I: catch up on my google reader.
3: The first thing I do when I wake up is: wash my face and brush my teeth.
4. When I'm tired I: stub my toe.
5. My dream bedroom would: have a great view, lots of natural light, and a way to block it out, have a vanity, a fat cat to cuddle with, and a giant, giant closet.
6. If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning it would be: San Francisco! I've got a craft fair to get to.
7. The longest sleep I've ever had was: whenever I'm sick I sleep for 10 hours every day.
8. I sleep on my: stomach.
9. When I sleep, I like to wear: cotton.
10. My bedtime is usually: between 11 + 12.

Power + Light Press and Lulu Dee at Renegade LA

Where did this week go?!  It's almost time for another Renegade and I haven't even gotten to all of the last one.  It is always a treat for me to see my craft friends and nothing brings a smile to my face quicker than seeing Kyle of Power + Light and Laura of Lulu Dee.

Good news for me they will also be at Renegade SF :) They really impressed me with the cohesive display presentation of their goods this past weekend. They decided on a vintage office theme and everything worked together great- so Mad Men! (sidebar, whose into don getting slapped? besides me.)  A few choice pieces really go a long way.

 giant chalkboards,

 vintage phones,

brightly colored typewriters,

and I  address book, calendar, notepad/pen holder combos!

♥ look of, and can only imagine how difficult it is to cart these heavy wooden boxes around. viva la femme!

New dance party invites from Power + Light.

Have you see Lulu Dee's new cards? So good, reminds me of Ed Emberly.

And I think her new business cards should not go unmentioned, I am totally into the banner redesigned.

Didn't they do a great job with their display? How ingenious to have cards covering up ugly tent legs? I'm looking forward to seeing what else these girls come up with.

Freshly Picked at Renegade LA

LA was lucky this past weekend to have Susan come all the way from Utah with her adorable fabric pieces! I am now the proud owner of the pink stripe bow bag. It took me a while to decide on a fabric, but you can't go wrong with pink!
These pillows can brighten up any apartment.
She also offers a wide selection of mini pouches, including some with zippers and velcro closures.
Check out her shop and blog, full of crafty projects and tutorials, someone please make me this!
I hope to see more of her and her freshly picked products soon.

Krank Press at Renegade LA

You remember Elinor of LA based Krank Press don't you? She is a newlywed!

I got the chance to see her invitations to her wedding in Pioneertown.  She hand wrote the type and designed everything. This is one time a designer can be positive she's pleasing the bride :) Aren't they great?

I would love a game of trying to match the designer to their invitation. A sort of Stationery Memory, where you flip over the cards and get to pair them together.

The rsvp card.

This is some recent custom design she's done, can you believe she hand carved those letters? I'm so impressed.

And new cards in her ready made line! How great are those pendants? This is called the quilt series.
If you're interested in custom work, you can reach Elinor by email:, check out her shop here.

I ♥ Miniature Rhino

I got to meet Jessica of Miniature Rhino stationery this past weekend at Renegade Craft Fair LA.  Polly Danger is a friend of hers and said we should meet; I tried to talk to her at Renegade Brooklyn but her booth was so swamped! Good things are worth the wait.

A letter you can type and put in a bottle, then Jessica will mail it for you.  Where else can you find such a service?

I have seen these on blogs before and they are really adorable in person. These would be a really cute engagment/wedding gift.

Her line is a great mix of vintage papers and imagery.

Air mail will always be in style.

Here she makes good use of a pegboard, this displays a nice range of her products

Vintage paper and red stitches, what's not to love?
There was so much to see, I hope I didn't spend too much time in her booth taking pictures while people were trying to shop ;)

A different spin on incorporating old postage stamps, there are two pieces of writing paper sewn to the front of these.
I got this stationery kit because my pen pals are owed a letter, and Jessica gave me this little pencil as a gift and a button. The button is not pictured because I immediately attached it to my purse.

Her shop is on vacation mode right now since she's in California, but you can be notified when her etsy reopens.
More Renegade coverage this week!

This Weekend

I'll be at Renegade Craft Fair tomorrow, sharing a booth with my friend Allison from The Social Type.  Today
I'm going to finish packing up product and displays for the show, and attend the etsy meet up tonight, which I'm looking forward to since the meeting in Brooklyn didn't work out. Tomorrow will be a long day so I hope to be in bed by 11. Even though today is my actual birthday, I'm taking it easy.  Stress never helps get anything done, I finally realized that.  I can't believe it was only a year ago when I was up all night prepping for my first craft fair!  A lot has changed. I realized that there will always be more I could do so I just have to set realistic goals for myself.  Also, how I envision displays may not always turn out, and being able to readjust during a show is really important. Paper product/displays + sun, wind, heat and dirt don't mix.  Like me, my products prefer to be inside, in air conditioning, preferably close to indoor plumbing. The weather is supposed to be nice all weekend so hopefully there will be minimal wind.
I got a ton of great birthday presents, I'm going to take pictures and will share them with you next week. For my birthday, my boyfriend is taking me to hawaii (I've never been!) after Renegade SF. We'll be there the first week of August. I'm really excited about the trip, we are going with my sister, her husband and our friend. I am getting tons of this special outdoor film for my trip. I can't wait to share the results. Have a great weekend and if you are in LA I hope you'll stop by my booth tomorrow. The show runs this Saturday and Sunday from 11am-7pm. 1245 North Spring Street - Close to the Chinatown stop off the gold line! Mention you're a blog reader for $1 off any purchase. Have a relaxing weekend!

Paper Pastries ♥s YOW

Paper Pastries is pleased as punch to carry some select products of a long time favorite line- Yellow Owl Workshop! I met Christine at this year's stationery show and loved talking to her.  She wants to live in LA and I want to live in SF- house swap!  When I saw these stamp sets I thought they'd be perfect for the shop. They are so great, I want to decorate everything in sight.  We have San Francisco
New York
and Paris.  Do you have a favorite? I couldn't choose! What else is new, right? :)

More California love

This city has been requested for a long time and I've finally made it.  See all available cities here.

I can make any city with a minimum order of 10 cards ($3 each) or if a specific city has a lot of requests I'll add it to my next stamp order.

California pencil sets are now up in the shop

get yours here.

New thank you cards were definitely overdue, so I came up with two new styles.  The first is what I call the international thank you pack.  It comes with six folded cards, two of each design.  Are you writing enough thank you notes? I am definitely not, I hope to catch up on them this week. A good rule of thumb- a thank you is better late than never!
Some notes to remember when writing a thank you note:
Be sincere.  This needs no explanation.
Be specific. Don't just say thank you for dinner. Say how it made you feel welcome when you're so far from home, what great memories you have from it, or how you would like to return the favor.
Be succinct. If you're writing a note, keep it short. You don't want to write on the back of a card or scramble to make all of your words fit. If you need more room, make it into a thank you letter instead.

I'm trying some new packaging for my card packs, I think this info insert will take out any guess work and eliminate the need to open the package.

The second design is bold and classic. This font reminds me of old letterpress type so I call it the wood type thank you.  My sister picked the color of card and inks- hope you like them!
