Candy and fill in the blank halloween

A visit to my house is not complete without a trip to the candy dish. Some of my everyday favorites include dove chocolate, gummy octopus, and toffee. When October rolls around it's always candy corn and mellowcreme pumpkins.

Tony and I were downtown the other day, for dinner at Bottega Louie. Besides being a full service restaurant, bar, bakery and cafe they also have a gourmet candy bar. I was delighted to find apple cider and pumpkin spice candy corn! I love pumpkin anything.

Also, I love malt balls, especially spooky ones. Their printed ribbon is so glam, I want some for paper pastries custom orders.

All varieties are delicious. I hope someone comes over soon so I don't eat them all!

It's not October in my house without some glitter pumpkins :) The porcelain fruit baskets are from ReForm School.

1. On Saturday, I'm going to my friends halloween party, on sunday, I'm going to my sisters house to watch scary movies and pass out candy.

2. My most memorable halloween costume was when I was harry potter in college. A lot of people wanted to take pictures with me. The only bad thing about it was that I let my friend draw the scar on my forehead with a sharpie that left its mark for days.

3. For Halloween this year, I'm not dressing up.

4. I thought I was going to be a firefly, but had no reason to dress up. My friend just told me this week he's having a party. I didn't want to rush and come up with something half assed.

5. Halloween free association: thriller, October, pumpkin, haunted house

6. The worst thing about Halloween is girls who dress "sexy" and walk around freezing.

7. The best thing about Halloween is it's one holiday closer to Christmas.

Wrappers Delight

I'm really looking forward to Monday, when Halloween is over and I can officially start getting excited about Christmas. One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is gift wrapping. I'm excited to carry more gift wrapping supplies in my shop, starting with Divine Twine!

Lovley lola greeted me each morning, her favorite spot to nap was on top of my suitcase.

My first visit to Staten Island! Taking the ferry was really fun- and free!

You know that show "no reservations?"  He did a tour of the five boroughs and went to this tiki bar/restaurant that looked amazing so we decided to go.

Liberty Island

We finally reached our destination after a 45 minute car ride. It was all the way across the island in a strip mall!

The drinks were amazing though, this pineapple is heavier than it looks. A fun borough adventure.

I'm already wishing to go back! NY is the best.

Pen Pal Meeting 10.25.2010

 This shop had a complete redo and I was dying to see it in person.

They still have the best selection of any stationery shop I've ever been to, I loaded up on tons of cards that I can't find all together in one place in la.

It's time for calendars again! I always have a hard time picking one out, its a year long commitment.

Definitely the cutest vintage postcards anywhere in the city, besides stocking up on everyday cards I also get all my postcards here.

Besides great paper products, they also have the best desk accessories,

and wrapping supplies.

A bit hard to see in the picture but they make these adorable enamel bicycle pins, and they carry these vintage looking lapel pins, librarian, achiever, science and art.

They don't disappoint with their seasonal items, where else can you find Halloween matches, black cat bobble heads and vintage treat bags?

These little pumpkins greeted me as I walked by the front window.

They are really in the autumn spirit!

I had to resist getting wrapping paper, too much trouble to ship home/carry on the plane. I regret it!

I also regret not getting this yard stick desk organizer. I know it's a universal rule, if you are on vacation and find something you love, get it!
