Recent Favorites Pt. 26

Tony and I are headed off to Palm Springs to check out possible venues for our wedding. Palm Springs is definitely my favorite desert. It's so glam, and there's so much charm and american history there. I have not been in about 3 years, I'm looking forward to checking out the sites. Here are a few recent favorites found on flickr. Above, by Abi Q.
This was the Westward Ho, which is now the ACE.
The Travel lodge.
El Mirador matchbook.
SF girl by bay.
Another great matchbook.

Buried Treasure No. 4

Last spring Tony and I drove almost 1400 miles to Austin, Texas. We made stops in Flagstaff, Sedona, Albuquerque, Roswell, Carlsbad Caverns before we got to Austin. Tony drove the whole way because I was on paid killers for my broken foot. I was navigator and road chef. I made some of the best sandwiches of my life. Some highlights from the trip:
Barton Springs (Austin) is the perfect place to cool off on a hot day. $3 gets you in and out access all afternoon.
Carlsbad Caverns (New Mexico) was a sight to see. I didn't walk down because of my foot, but Tony did and I took the elevator down to meet him.
This is the view from right inside the cavern.

In the 1950's there was a big cafeteria down in the caverns and you could dine and smoke there. Now it's just a small refreshment stand.
Came across this great candy shop in Austin, stocked up for the trip back.
I never met an ice cream, or an ice cream sign that I didn't like.
We enjoyed all the outdoor seating at the south west restaurants.
We took a "shortcut" on an old mountain road and came across this post office.
The red rock in Sedona, Arizona.
A city street in Austin.
The best thing I found in Austin- this sno cone truck. We visited this truck about 6 times. I couldn't get enough. Road trips are the best.

Buried Treasure No. 3

While cleaning up my desktop (of the computer, not my actual desk) I found these photos that I never shared. I think Tony's least favorite thing about me is the condition of my computer desktop. I always have about 70+ files in no particular order. Sometimes when it gets too crazy I create a folder thats called "desktop" and put all the files in there. Not the best way to organize I know :) Anyway I finally got around to cleaning them up and came across a lot of pictures I have not shared. Above, some mail I sent out in...November! LOL
And some mail I received at the end of October.
Remember the swap I did with Sophie in France? This is the package I sent to her.
I wanted it to be a mix of American and French things. More buried treasure tomorrow :)

Favorite Shop Series Pt. 11

It's been a while since I've done a favorite shop series post. It's been pretty busy over here so I haven't been able to browse online shops as often as I used to. Now that I'm working on a specific project using paper ephemera I've been able to peruse ebay and etsy. I came across Xenia's etsy shop called Saturday Morning Vintage.
Not only does she take beautiful photographs of her products but she has a wide range of vintage paper products to choose from.
I'm a huge fan of vintage paper packs but these are the best I've ever come across. She divides them up by color.
And you all know I'm a sucker for anything air mail.
She also has a blog where she shares vintage paper projects, shop updates, and small business advice.

Sent with love No. 6

Since I received so many gifts last week I thought this was the  the perfect opportunity to use the thank you stamp I got from Scouts honor co.  I wanted to emboss the design onto blank cards. These are a2 sized soft white from Paper Source. I also got the embossing heat tool there, and the judi kins embossing powder.
They turned out pretty cute. For the envelope, I tried to mimic the lettering design of the card inside.
I recently found this little stencil and thought it'd be a fun addition to my letter writing supplies.
I'm pleased with the letters though next time I might switch up the colors between address lines.
Another week of succession letter writing :)
I also found some vintage labels that I want to use to decorate packages. The colors are supreme.
question- what do you guys think about this blue background? It kind of hurts my eyes now that I'm seeing it on a computer screen.

Signed, sealed & delivered (to me) Pt. 4

I got some very good mail this week: a package from Allie, a letter from Mary, A letter from Donovan, a note from Valerie, a postcard from Ana.
Mollye's note included a little porcelain cat.
Remember when Amy gifted me a tea cup and saucer at the tea party? Her mom came across this beauty and got it for me. Isn't it amazing? I had a cup of tea in it this morning. Pretty tea cups definitely make my morning better.
Allie's package was bursting with cuteness. She knows me so well, I just love everything.
As soon as I saw this glitter I just had to try it. It's very "mardi gras." It's called "galaxy" though. I'm spoiled :)

Recent Favorites Pt. 25 (tumblr edition)

This week went by very slow even though we did a lot. I think I am just anxious because we are taking a trip up north to look at possible wedding venues. Let's get on with it already! Here are a few things that caught my eye on tumblr this week. -A side of Walker Evans I've never seen. -More bad postcards. -Photojojo is hiring a buyer, sounds like a fun job. -Dreaming of the ocean.

-it's been a long time since i've seen snow. -More letter writing news. -when's the next birthday? I've been craving cake! -Madison Square Boys Club on East 30th Street in Manhattan.

Sent with love No. 5

I got some prints made out of my instagram pictures from my last trip to NYC.
I wrapped them up in bundles to send to friends.
The trip's main purpose was to catch up with friends from college. Lindsay, Allie, and I all came together to meet up with Mollye in New York. I wrote them each a quick note and slipped the photos inside.
Every time I see them it makes me miss all the time we got to spend together. I always think I would love to live in Santa Cruz again but it just wouldn't be the same without them.
This was a time when I planned to take just a small 30 minute break one morning to write three cards. It turned into a long writing session complete with envelope decorating.
I had to try out these new mini alphabet stamps- too bad they didn't come with numbers.
I also tried out a few other new rubber stamps and used the floral postcard stamps to ship (each one ended up needing three stamps)
