Guest Post No. 10 - Summer Beauty Regime

Katie here again, while Margaret is still enjoying her second week of vacation.
Ah, summer!  Between the increased need for sunscreen and the hot temps, I require a totally different beauty routine.  Some of these are old favorites, and some are new but soon-to-be classics in my regime.
First up is Clinique’s Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliator.  This scent-less concoction painlessly scrubs away the top layer of dryness without the oiliness of other exfoliators.  It is a perfect first step to self-tanner—the only acceptable way to get summer color!
My favorite for the past couple of years has been Clarins Delicious Self-Tanning Cream.  It still a smells a bit like self-tanner (you know), but less so.  It has a lovely texture and you can build the color over a few days.  It is also not drying in the least.
I like apply mixed with a little Kiehl’s Crème de Corps.  Just remember to wash your hands!  Another bit of Sparkle Skin works great to scrub those palms clean.

Face time!  Sunscreen is step one.  My sister turned me on to Coola Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer.  I use sunscreen daily… but I hate sunscreen.  The smell, the feel, the grease… ick.  Coola somehow took care of those issues.  This is silky, dries without stickiness AND smells great!  It provides protection and a smooth layer for make-up.
My favorite new products this year have been Nars Illuminator in Laguna and
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in Orange de Chine. The Illuminator is a deep brown with golden shimmer liquid that can be used a highlighter or as a blush.  The YSL Glossy Stain is nothing short of amazing!  It is exactly what it sounds like: the shine of gloss, the long lasting color of a stain and the feel of a balm.  It even has a weird, slanty applicator that works great!  So…  buy it ASAP!
Last, but not least, something to wash it all away at the end of the day.  I start with First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser.  It is a creamy wash that foams.  Totally scentless and great for sensitive skin! It removes all traces of make-up and helps with any summer-induced acne.  For the body, I use Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash in Grapefruit.  It clears up body breakouts with salicylic acid, but doesn’t dry up your skin in the least.
That is my summer beauty plan.  What is yours?
