Neck of the Woods Project

I just discovered the Neck of the Woods Project while browsing on Tumblr. It's a hand lettering and illustration project that finds inspiration in local sayings from around the world. Awesome, right?
I'm familiar with the above saying, after going to college in Santa Cruz, California. The others on the site are all new to me.
Origin: Northern California/Bay Area (“Norcal”) Meaning: extremely, very, really - e.g: That’s hella cool. That final was hella hard, I think I failed it. etc.
Origin: Louisiana, USA Meaning: “The green beans aren’t salty - times are tough [no money for salt pork or ham], but we can eat at least. It’s also used to mean “I have no spicy news for you.”

Origin: Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA (most specifically the University of Michigan campus) Meaning: “It means we’re starting things late."
You can get involved in this project! Just email neckofthewoodsproject@gmail.com with the local saying, the meaning/history and the town it is are used in.

Buried Treasure No. 19 Oregon

Last May, I went to Oregon with my dad, sister, and her husband. It was a really fun trip, and I got to see my "aunt" Kathy, one of my dad's oldest friends. We stayed at this really cute little motel in Manzanita Beach. Here are a few pictures from our time on the Oregon Coast- I might have gone a little overboard with ocean photos :)
We would always stop in antique shops along the way.

Gifted No. 16

I first saw this book while browsing on pinterest. I knew my sister, an avid shoe shopper, would love it. Hannah K Lee is the brilliant illustrator behind this idea.
The inside cover reads " Shoes over Bills is about shoes and their cost equivalents." Even more than her shoe illustrations, I love what she did with the text. Here are a few of my favorites:

Favorite Shop Series No. 15

My main shop is hosted by Big Cartel. (Is that the right word? I'm not sure.) Anyway, I feel like Big Cartel doesn't get enough love. Their support team is awesome. They always answer my questions within 24 hours and I just really like all the options. These are some of my favorite Big Cartel Shops- shop indie!
row 1 dotty cardsbird print, washi tape
row 2 custom love letter, notebooks, pens
row 3 pencil holder, stork scissors, letterpress card
row 4 feminism shirt, airmail envelopes, field notes
row 5 herbs, mountains, preschool

Buried Treasure No. 18 - The Neon Boneyard

It's been a while since I've been to Las Vegas. While cleaning out my drawers I came across these film photos of our visit to the neon boneyard. It's one of the coolest places in Las Vegas. If you visit, just make sure you go on a cool day. It was over 100 degrees when we visited. Here are the photos I took on our visit:
