Prints to Me Review + Discount Code

There are a lot of instagram printing services out there, and you just don't know how they are going to turn out. I've tried a few, with hit and miss results. Prints to me just launched in October of this year. I was able to try out their printing services. They offer a big variety of print options- prints, wallmounts, canvas prints, metal prints, books, stickers, coasters, and ornaments. I ordered the stickers, coasters, 4 x 4 prints, and snapshots.
I am very impressed with them. The prints are a nice weight, a matte finish, and incredible color handling.
This is a 4 x 4 print on the left, and a snapshot on the right. The snapshots are available with the instagram caption as well, but I opted to forgo it. Most of my instagram captions are just emojis ;)
 These are the stickers.
The coasters are awesome. These would make great gifts. I had to get some of Otto and Milchy.
I used some of the stickers to decorate my computer. Otto's head sticker in the middle is from Overall, I am really happy with the prints I got from Prints to Me. I will definitely use them again!
If you'd like to try them out, enter paperpastries for 30% off any order from now until Christmas.

Purina Purpose Litter Review + Cat Cave Giveaway

Otto and Milchy don't go outside, so we go through a lot of litter. I feel like I've tried every litter there is. I've found a few that I like, but none were perfect. When I was asked if I'd be willing to try a new litter that was going to be introduced in November, I said "Absolutely." I was sent a new kind of litter: Purpose, from the makers of Purina. In addition to the litter, the package included all kinds of presents for me and the cats. A Tory Burch wallet, with a coupon for another box of free litter, a $25 target gift card, lint rollers, and a handmade wool cat cave.
The box of litter doesn't look like any litter I've seen before. It's not gigantic and is pretty cute.
Of all the items in the box, Otto was most interested in his new litter.
I was a bit nervous to try a new litter. There have been times when Otto didn't like a new litter, so he found another place to go! I cleaned out the old litter, washed and dried their clever cat litter box, and put in the Purpose litter.
This litter is scented, and though it's 99.6% dust free, there was still a bit of dust that came up out of the box when I poured it. I'm not crazy about the scent, it kind of smells like dryer sheets. We had guests the first week we tried the litter, and they weren't bothered by it one bit. But- the cats seem to love it! They tried it out right away. I left it, to see how it handled the smell. I didn't smell anything! If I hadn't seen him go in to use the litter, I wouldn't have known that he just had. It clumps well, and the cats like it. For me, if they made an unscented version, it would be perfect! In conclusion- I will definitely be buying more Purpose cat litter. And there are three different scents, so maybe I will like one of the other scents more. Purpose can only be purchased at Target, it's currently sold out at
The cats also loved the cat cave they sent, from etsy maker kivikis. Milchy got it in right away, and then Otto took it over and wouldn't let her come in! They could both fit, but he is just being greedy with is bed.
I do think the green color of the bed looks great with his coat and eyes.
They also sent me another cat cave for a giveaway! The bed is wool, so it's not recommended for people with allergies to wool.
To enter, just leave a comment on this post telling me about your cat/cats.
Open to US residents only.
Giveaway open from today Dec 8-Dec 14th. Winner Announced on Dec 15th.

The Letter Writing Kit

Victoria and I met at Pen Pal Club years ago. We bonded over a shared love of fine stationery, mail, and vintage postage. We keep in touch over letters and sometimes over cocktails. We thought it natural to combine forces to come up with our idea of the perfect letter writing kit.  After many meetings and emails- it's finally here!

The kit is available in either Airmail or Floral. Each made-in-the-U.S. wooden box contains:
•A 10-piece set of stationery, individually stamped with hand-drawn illustrations
•Our favorite wood-barreled pen from Japan
•A roll of washi tape
•A wood stencil, which may be used in various combinations
•Some vintage postage, styles vary but will deliver one First Class letter

Our $50 introductory price is valid through Dec 12, 2014. You can find it in the shop here.
We are pretty pleased with it :)

Custom Calligraphy Holiday Card Stamp

If you follow us on instagram, you got a sneak peek of this last week. A custom calligraphy rubber stamp for your holiday cards.
I wanted to see how many names I could fit under the tree, so for the example, I went with my favorite family. Know who it is?
After the rubber is engraved, I engrave the design onto the wood mount. Not only is this a great stamp, but it's a beautiful keepsake.
This design is offered in two sizes, and can be found in the shop here.

Making Mail Doc

About a year and a half ago, I was interviewed for this documentary about making mail. It was a kickstarter that got funded. It's now available to watch online here.
The film interviews a variety of mail artists. Still a bit shocked that The Queen of Mail Art wasn't interviewed for it. Maybe there will be a sequel.
I hope to never make this face again LOL
And why didn't i get my hair done? I'll never know.
Some action shots
This was when I lived in Oceanside. Because these guys who were making the film were traveling from Ohio to Los Angeles, I came up from Oceanside. We filmed at Reform School. Thanks, Reform School!

LA Cake Club Custom Stamps

If the people reading this are in LA, I hope you've heard of LA Cake Club. It's a cake and dessert club that meets once a month. Sara, the talent behind Matchbox Kitchen, is the founder of LA Cake Club. You get together with a group of like minded individuals and eat cake! It's the best club ever. (You can sign up for the newsletter here.)
At every meeting, you're supposed to bring a take away box for leftovers. When I first started making personal stationery, I used to put the finished product into these pink pastry boxes.  After the first meeting I attended, I was so happy. I wanted to contribute something to cake club. I looked up cake club and found the above image. (photo by Sara of Matchbox Kitchen.) I loved it! Then I had an idea.
I drew the cake and wrote LA cake club, scanned it onto my computer, then turned it into a rubber stamp. One was large and in charge (3 x 3 inches) and the other one is tiny and cute (1 x 1 inches.)
I had too much fun trying out the stamp.
Then I dug around in my studio and found that I still had some pink pastry boxes.
I stamped a few then shipped them off to Sara, along with the stamps.
It was fun seeing them shared on instagram, and though I had to miss the next meeting, I heard the boxes were a hit!

I'm looking forward to the next meeting of LA Cake Club :)

Just Write No. 2 Laura Berger

I am still unpacking a few things in my studio. I just came across a big box of stationery. This box is full of cards and papers that I've purchased, and that I've set aside to share for the Just Write column of this blog. I haven't written one of these since January! LOL, ridiculous I know. But I just found a bunch of cards for it, so expect that coming soon.  I discovered Laura Berger while browsing on etsy one day.
I love her sense of humor and the faces her illustrations have. Aren't they great?
I'm a big fan of this one :)
This is a great line for general hello notes. She also has some wonderful prints, and a lot of new card designs in her shop. Check them out here.
