Recent Finds- Shop Handy Maiden

Looking at pictures of baby animals just puts me in a good mood. Danielle Perdersen's shop Handy Maiden  takes things to a whole other level. She carves and sculpts each animal out of polymer clay, then hand paints it and seals with varnish. The end result is ADORABLE. I would love one of these on my dresser so I could see it every day when I woke up. What a great way to start the day.
That little howling mouth!
 Such beautiful colors.
Galaxy bear.
I'm going to put these bears at the top of my wish list. Aren't they so cute?
If you don't see the perfect animal, she also takes custom orders.

Window Shopping - Photojojo

I've been riding my bike a lot by the beach and I often think "I wish I could take a picture of this!" I looked for a bike mount for a phone and of course, photojojo has it. Since shipping is free over $50, I started looking around...I found way too many things that I want.
Summer is coming and I'd love to take some water shots with my phone. This iphone super suit looks perfect.
I have so many instagram photos that will never leave my phone. With this instax printer, I'd never have that problem again!
The picture on the left is what I look like every time I travel. Cordito to the rescue!
This egg carton is a great way to carry a bunch of film. I only wish that it was also x-ray ok.
Hashtag necklaces! What will they think of next? LOL, I always use a filter.
The keyprop would be great to steady my on the go shots. Sometimes after a few cups of coffee, it's hard to keep my hands still.
I've been looking for salt and pepper shakers, and these are the best ones I've seen.
Will this be the year I finally get a Bokeh kit?
These camera flash drives are darling! I am always looking for my flash drive. It wouldn't hurt to add a few more.
I don't "need" this portable photo studio, but I would sure use it!
As I said, it wouldn't hurt to add a few more. Film USB drive.
I know, this got a little ridiculous. Luckily, they also have the option to buy EVERYTHING. The one of everything listing. Photojojo never fails to make me laugh.

I'm Pinterested - 'shake-it' confetti wrap

This fun Confetti Wrap by Minieco caught my eye. How could it not? Ever since I read about it on their blog, I wanted to try it. But it wasn't until this past February that I got a chance to.
(can you tell, I am catching up on blog posts? LOL)
My father in law and I share a mutual love of dots. Whenever there are seasonal flavors, I send him a box. My 15 year old cousin's celebrity crush is Sherlock.  So here I was with Valentines presents to send, and I was just going to stick them in a box. But then I remembered the confetti wrap.
I pulled out all of my fun hole punchers. Starbursts, circles, and hearts.
After choosing some colored card stock to work with, I had a great big pile of fun.
Instead of a gray background I used kraft paper. It's such a fun idea! I will definitely be using it again.

Recent Finds - Xenotees

I got these pillow cases and bag from Xenotees. I love them! And I think it's pretty safe to say that Otto and Milchy do too ;)

Recent Favorites No. 33

No big surprise- cats and mail are two of my favorite things but them together- too good! I've always loved Memo guards the mail but I never did any research into the maker of this amazing hand carved masterpiece. Turns out she, dumpsterdiversanonymous, has a wonderful flickr stream, full of mail and cats.
 Just look at these beauties!
 Such a sweet face.
 These bedroom eyes!
She is skilled at hand carving her own stamps.
I am intrigued by that chicken.
I haven't hand carved stamps in a long while, but this makes me want to give it another go.
She also has some great cat themed mail on her flickr.
It's worth checking out :)

Movie Stars

Working and living in LA, you do see a lot of celebrities. They have to be out in the world, just like everyone else. I'd say I saw more than my fair share since I worked in two shops in popular shopping districts and I had a flexible work schedule that allowed me to be at hip cafes, on say, a tuesday mid morning. I have been star struck and even tongue tied but no matter how many celebrities I see, I still have nostalgia for old hollywood. I grew up watching old movies thanks to my dad. Whenever we visited the library he would bring home another one. What I wouldn't give to have seen or talked to Katharine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, or Bette Davis out and about in Los Angeles. That's why I'm obsessed with this map my sister emailed to me. Official moviegraph of the land of stars- where they live- where they work and where they play. Isn't it fantastic? For some reason, I find the big head characetures charming, instead of creepy. This just makes me want to watch a classic Hollywood movie. What are some of your favorites? Mine are
The Philadelphia Story
Arsenic and Old Lace
Bringing Up Baby
The Shop Around The Corner
All About Eve
and don't get me started on Hitchcock or Musicals. We'd be here all day!

Making Mail Showing

In June, there is going to be a preview of the Making Mail documentary in Cleveland, Ohio. There's also going to be an art show along side of it! This is all happening at Zygote Press- a print shop & a gallery.
On one side of the gallery, the documentary will be projected and visitors will have the opportunity to make mail art. On the other side of the gallery there is going to be a showcase-- actual mail art that Mike and the crew have collected throughout this entire process.
It was their idea to have every artist in the film submit a piece of mail art to showcase in the gallery and be available to purchase.
The big white envelope arrived and I just had it out on my desk for days. I didn't know what I was going to do with it! Finally, I did. This is my submission for the showcase. It's titled The USPS Art Gallery.
I got together some of my favorite vintage postage and began covering the envelope with it.
I liked the way it looked but it was just missing a certain something. So I got out my favorite paint pens and started adding "frames."
I included a certificate of authenticity for fun.
Speaking of mail related things- have you seen this kickstarter? I didn't even finish watching the video before I backed it- but then I watched the video three times, it's so great.
I first met Lea in San Francisco back in 2009. I couldn't stop exclaiming at her, it was embarrassing. It was just one of the best things I'd ever seen.
I enjoyed the first kit Leafcutter designs put together, but this one is going to be a million times better- tiny rubber stamps and made in California! Just a few of my favorite things ;)
